At Giving Tree, children receive large blocks of time where they can engage in free play. What is free play? Free play is when children are able to explore and interact with their environments without interruption. Invitations are always set up in the classroom for children to explore but they have the freedom to choose if they would like to engage in invitations or move on to discover and learn in a different part of the classroom.
During free play on Wednesday morning, children were seen creating animal habitats, sorting colors independently, and enhancing their artwork. Free play allows children to dive into their imagination without being interrupted or pulling away from their discovery.
